Zacharia 12 : 1 - 6
Dit is een boodschap over de toekomst van Israël.
Dit zijn de woorden van de Heer.
Hij heeft de Hemel en de aarde gemaakt en aan de mensen het leven gegeven.
Dit zegt de Heer: "Alle volken zullen Jeruzalem aanvallen.
Ze zullen eerst door Juda trekken,
maar Ik zal de inwoners van Juda beschermen.
Zodra de volken Jeruzalem aanvallen, zal Ik hen straffen. Ze zullen het heel moeilijk krijgen. Ik zal hun paarden blind maken.
Dan raken de paarden in paniek en hun ruiters gek van angst.
Dan zullen de leiders van Juda zeggen:
"De machtige Heer helpt de inwoners van Jeruzalem, want Hij is hun God.
Dit geeft ons moed!"
Ik, de Heer, zal zorgen dat de vijanden van Juda vernietigd worden.
Zoals hout of koren vernietigd wordt door vuur.
Maar de stad Jeruzalem zal blijven bestaan.

This is a message about the future of Israel.
These are the words of the Lord.
He made heaven and earth and gave life to mankind.
This is what the Lord says: "All the nations will attack Jerusalem.
They will first pass through Judah,
but I will protect the people of Judah.
When the nations attack Jerusalem, I will punish them. They will have a hard time. I will blind their horses.
Then the horses will be terrified and their riders will be scared.
Then the leaders of Judah will say,
"The Lord of hosts is with the people of Jerusalem, for he is their God.
This gives us courage!"
I, the Lord, will destroy the enemies of Judah.
As wood or grain is destroyed by fire.
But the city of Jerusalem will remain.
