LEVEND WATER
Het levend water in Johannes 4:1-30
Of zowel het levende water. Dit is water dat herhaaldelijk in de bijbel wordt beschreven.
Als eerste dacht ik hierbij aan de vrouw aan wie Jezus eens water heeft willen vragen en dat is een verhaal dat in Johannes 4 staat beschreven.
De farizeeën hoorden dat Jezus steeds meer volgelingen kreeg, en meer mensen doopte dan Johannes (Jezus doopte trouwens niet zelf, dat deden zijn leerlingen) Toen Jezus ontdekte dat de farizeeën dat gehoord hadden, ging hij weg uit Judea, terug naar Galilea. Hij moest door Samaria reizen, en kwam bij de stad Sichar. Die stad lag dicht bij het stuk land dat Jakob ooit aan zijn zoon Jozef gegeven had. Bij Sichar was de zogeheten Jakobsput. Jezus ging bij die put zitten, want hij was moe van de reist. Het was ongeveer twaalf uur in de middag. En toen kwam er een Samaritaanse vrouw aan. Ze kwam water halen uit de put.
Jezus zei tegen haar: "Wil je me alsjeblieft wat te drinken geven?"
De leerlingen van Jezus waren op dat moment even eten aan het kopen in de stad Sichar.
De vrouw antwoordde Jezus:
” Dat kun je toch niet aan mij gaan vragen?
Jij bent immers een Jood en ik ben van Samaritaanse afkomst.”
Jezus antwoordde hierop:
“Ik heb jou om water gevraagd, maar jij weet niet wie ik ben. Jij weet niet wat de Werkelijke Liefde (God) aan werkelijk alle mensen wil geven.
Want als je dat wel had geweten,
had je mij om water willen vragen!
En dan had ik je water gegeven dat eeuwig leven geeft.”
En de vrouw antwoordde Jezus door te zeggen: “Maar meneer, je hebt geen emmer bij je en de put is heel erg diep. Waar wil je dan het water vandaan halen? Kun je soms meer dan onze voorvader Jacob? Jacob heeft ons deze put gegeven en hij heeft zelf water uit deze put gedronken. Ja, en ook zijn zonen en zijn dieren, zij hebben allemaal uit deze put gedronken. “
Jezus antwoordde hierop:
“Iedereen die water uit deze put drinkt,
zal weer dorst krijgen.
Maar als je drinkt van het water dat ik je geef,
krijg je nooit meer dorst.
Want het water dat ik geef,
blijft altijd in je.
Het is water dat jou het eeuwige leven geeft. “
De vrouw antwoordde weer:
”Meneer, geef mij dan graag dat water!
Want dan zal ik nooit meer dorst krijgen.
En dan hoef ik ook nooit meer naar de put
om water te gaan halen!”
Jezus antwoordde de vrouw hierop:
“Ga eerst je man halen,
en kom dan terug.”
En de vrouw antwoordde Jezus:
”Maar ik heb helemaal geen man!”
En Jezus antwoordde daarop de vrouw:
“Precies. Je hebt 5 mannen gehad.
En nu leef je samen met iemand die jouw man niet is. Dus wat je zegt, is waar.”
De vrouw antwoordde hierop:
“Nu begrijp ik dat je een profeet bent!
Daarom wil ik je nu iets vragen.
Onze voorouders vereerden God op de berg Gerizim. Maar de Joden zeggen dat je God alleen in de tempel van Jeruzalem mag vereren.
Wie heeft er nu gelijk?”
Jezus antwoordde haar:
“De Samaritanen vereren God zonder hem te kennen.
De Joden vereren en kennen hem wel.
Want de redder van de wereld komt uit het Joodse volk.
Geloof me, er komt een nieuwe tijd.
Dan wordt God niet meer verkeerd op de berg Gerizim of in de tempel van Jeruzalem.
En in die tijd, die nu al is begonnen, vereren de ware gelovigen God niet meer op 1 speciale plaats. Want dankzij de heilige Geest kennen zij God, de Vader (De Werkelijke Liefde) echt.
Daardoor kunnen zij de Vader vereren op een nieuwe manier en dat is zoals Hij het wil.
God (dus ook Jezus Christus natuurlijk) hoort bij de hemelse wereld.
Alleen door de heilige Geest kun je God echt leren kennen.
En Alleen dan kun je hem op de juiste manier vereren.”
De vrouw zei toen:
“Ik weet dat de Messias, die Jezus Christus genoemd wordt, zal komen.
Hij zal ons alles over God vertellen.”
Jezus zei toen tegen haar:
”De Messias preekt met je. Ik ben het.”
Op dat moment kwamen de leerlingen terug.
Ze waren erg verbaasd dat Jezus me een vrouw aan het praten was.
Maar toch vroegen ze niet: “Waarom praat je met haar? Wat wilt u van haar?
De vrouw liet haar waterkruik staan,
en ging terug naar de stad.
Daar zei ze tegen de mensen:
” Kom mee! Er is iemand die alles van mij weet.
Dat moet de Messias zijn!”
De mensen liepen de stad uit
en gingen naar Jezus toe.

(wij waren in de macht van de zonde en de dood, maar de Heilige Geest ( het Heilige Water) heeft ons uit die macht bevrijd.
LIVING WATER
The living water in John 4:1-30
Or both the living water. This is water that is repeatedly described in the Bible.
The first thing that came to mind was the woman from whom Jesus once wanted to ask for water, and that is a story that is described in John 4.
The Pharisees heard that Jesus was gaining more and more followers, and was baptizing more people than John (Jesus did not baptize himself, his disciples did). When Jesus discovered that the Pharisees had heard this, he left Judea, back to Galilee. He had to travel through Samaria, and came to the city of Sychar. This city was close to the piece of land that Jacob had once given to his son Joseph. At Sychar was the so-called Jacob's well. Jesus sat down by the well, because he was tired from the journey. It was about twelve o'clock in the afternoon. And there came a woman of Samaria. She came to draw water from the well.
Jesus said to her: "Please give me something to drink?
At that moment, Jesus' disciples were buying food in the city of Sychar.
The woman answered Jesus:
"You can't ask me, can you?
You are a Jew and I am of Samaritan descent."
Jesus answered:
"I asked you for water, but you don't know who I am. You don't know what True Love (God) wants to give to all people.
Because if you had known,
you would have wanted to ask me for water!
And then I would have given you the water that gives eternal life."
And the woman answered Jesus, saying, “Sir, you have no bucket with you, and the well is very deep. Where then do you want to get water? Are you more powerful than our father Jacob? Jacob gave us this well, and he himself drank from the well. Yes, his sons and his animals also drank from the well.”
Jesus answered,
“Everyone who drinks water from this well
will be thirsty again.
But if you drink of the water that I give you,
you will never be thirsty again.
For the water that I give you
remains in you forever.
It is the water that gives you eternal life.”
The woman answered,
“Sir, please give me this water!
Then I will never be thirsty again.
And then I will never have to go to the well
to get water!”
Jesus answered the woman:
“First go and get your husband,
and then come back.”
And the woman answered Jesus:
“But I have no husband!”
And Jesus answered the woman:
“Exactly. You have had 5 husbands.
And now you are living with someone who is not your husband.
So what you say is true.”
The woman answered:
“Now I understand that you are a prophet!
That is why I want to ask you something.
Our ancestors worshipped God on Mount Gerizim. But the Jews say that you can only worship God in the temple in Jerusalem.
Who is right now?”
Jesus answered her:
"The Samaritans worship God without knowing him.
The Jews worship and know him.
Because the savior of the world comes from the Jewish people.
Believe me, a new time is coming.
Then God will no longer be mistaken on Mount Gerizim or in the temple of Jerusalem.
And in that time it has already begun, the true believers no longer worship God in 1 special place. If you want, thanks to the Holy Spirit, they really know God, the Father (Real Love).
Because of that they can worship the Father in a new way and that is as He wants it.
God (and of course Jesus Christ) belongs to the heavenly world.
Only through the Holy Spirit can you really get to know God.
And only then can you worship him in the right way."
The woman then said:
"I know that the Messiah, who is called Jesus Christ, will come.
He will tell us everything about God."
Jesus then said to her:
"The Messiah is preaching with you. I am he."
At that moment the disciples returned.
They were very surprised that Jesus was talking to a woman.
But they did not ask, “Why are you talking to her? What do you want from her?”
The woman left her water jar
and went back to the city.
There she said to the people:
“Come with me! There is someone who knows everything about me.
He must be the Messiah!”
The people went out of the city
and came to Jesus.

(we were under the power of sin and death, but the Holy Spirit (the Holy Water) has freed us from that power.
