MORGENWACHT WEEK 3

Boodschap drie: De volwassenheid van de Bruid

Schriftlezing: Openb. 19:6-9; Joh. 3:29; Jak. 5:7; Mat. 5:48; Kol. 1:28-29; 3:10-11

MORNING REVIVAL WEEK 3

Message Three The Maturity of the Bride

Scripture Reading: Rev. 19:6-9; John 3:29; James 5:7; Matt. 5:48; Col. 1:28-29; 3:10-11

The meaning of the word mature in Greek is “at the end point”:
To be transformed is to be metabolically changed in our natural life; to be matured is to be filled with the divine life that changes us—Heb. 6:1; Col. 4:12; Rom. 12:2; 2 Pet. 1:3.
The last stage of transformation is maturity, the fullness of life—v. 4.

A mature believer knows and cares for the Body of Christ, being Body-conscious and Body-centered—1 Cor. 12:16, 18-19, 21, 24.

As used in the New Testament, the word mature refers to the believers’ being full-grown and perfected in the life of Christ, which they received at the time of regeneration—Titus 3:5; 1 Pet. 1:3, 23; Matt. 5:48:

We should never be content with ourselves but pursue growth and maturity in the life of Christ—Phil. 3:12, 14.

We need to go on, to be brought on, to maturity by forgetting the things which are

behind and stretching forward to the things which are before, pursuing toward the fullest enjoyment and gaining of Christ for the uttermost enjoyment of Christ in the millennial kingdom—vv. 12-15.

The prerequisite for maturity in the spiritual life is to grow continually in the divine life—Eph. 4:15.
The ultimate issue of the believers’ growth and maturity in the life of Christ is the full-grown man—the church as the Body of Christ growing into a mature man—v. 13.

III. In his Epistle, James uses the illustration of a farmer awaiting with long-suffering the precious fruit of the earth—5:7:

The Lord Jesus is actually the real Farmer, the unique Farmer—Matt. 13:3.
While we are awaiting with long-suffering the Lord’s coming, He, as the real Farmer, is awaiting with patience our maturity in life, as the firstfruits and harvest of His field—Rev. 14:4, 14-15.
If we pray, “Lord, come back quickly,” the Lord may say, “While you are awaiting My coming back, I am awaiting your maturity; only your maturity can hasten My coming back.”
It is a great help for us to realize that if we are serious about awaiting the Lord’s coming back, we need to grow in life unto maturity.

To be mature is to have Christ fully formed in us; it also means that we have been fully transformed into His image—Gal. 4:19; 2 Cor. 3:18:

Since the time of our regeneration, the Lord has been working in us so that we may have His image—v. 18; Rom. 8:29.

When the Lord has fully worked His image into us and is fully expressed through us, we will be mature in life—Eph. 3:16-17.

Chapter 3 of Song of Songs shows us the maturity of the seeking one, and chapter 4 continues by explaining that such maturity is reached by the subduing of the will; the secret of the maturity of the seeking one is that her will has been completely subdued and resurrected—v. 4:

The neck signifies the human will under God; the Lord considers the submission of our will a most beautiful thing—vv. 1a, 4.

If we have a submissive will, our will is expressed like the tower of David that holds all kinds of weapons:

First, our will must be subdued; then it will be strong in resurrection and like the tower of David, the armory for the spiritual warfare—Eph. 6:10.

The weapons for spiritual warfare are kept in our subdued and resurrected will—2 Cor. 10:3-5.

The goal of Paul’s ministry was to present every man mature, full-grown, in Christ for the one new man—Col. 1:28-29; 3:10-11:

The Greek word rendered “full-grown” in Colossians 1:28 may also be translated “perfect,” “complete,” or “mature.”

Paul’s ministry was to dispense Christ into others so that they would be perfect and complete by maturing in Christ unto full growth.

VII. Genesis 37—47 is a record of the process of Jacob’s maturity:

In Genesis 27 we see a supplanter; in chapter 37, a transformed man; and at the end of chapter 47, a mature person.

The last stage of transformation is maturity, the fullness of life:

God’s eternal purpose can only be accomplished through our transformation and maturity—1:26; Col. 1:28; 2:19.

Maturity is a matter of having the divine life imparted into us again and again until we have the fullness of life—John 10:10.

Maturity is a matter of the enlargement of capacity—Psa. 4:1:

Maturity in life is the sum total of receiving the discipline of the Holy Spirit—Heb. 12:5-11.

Others may see a person who has matured in life, but they cannot see the accumulated discipline of the Holy Spirit which that person has received secretly day after day throughout the years—2 Cor. 1:8-10; Gen. 47:7, 10.

God will sovereignly use persons, things, and events to empty us of everything that has filled us and to take away every preoccupation so that we may have an increased capacity to be filled with God—Luke 1:53; Matt. 5:6.

The life of Jacob reveals that everything that happens to us is under God’s sovereignty for our transformation and maturity; nothing is accidental:

In order to become mature, Jacob first had to suffer the loss of Joseph, the treasure of his heart—Gen. 37:31-35.

A mature believer has learned that God is merciful and all-sufficient to meet his needs in every kind of situation—43:11, 13-14; 17:1; Phil. 1:19-21a; 4:11-12; cf. 1 Tim. 6:6-8.

His trust and rest are altogether in the mercy of his all-sufficient God, no longer in himself or in his ability—Rom. 9:16.

The strongest sign of Jacob’s maturity was his blessing others—Gen. 47:7, 10; 48:14-16; Heb. 7:7.

VIII. The mature bride is the goal of God’s will and purpose—Rev. 19:7-9:

The readiness of the corporate bride depends on the maturity in life of the overcomers—v. 7; Heb. 6:1; Phil. 3:12-15; Eph. 4:13.

The marriage of the Lamb is the issue of the completion of God’s New Testament economy, which is to obtain for Christ a bride, the church, through His judicial redemption and by His organic salvation in His divine life—Gen. 2:22; Rom.5:10; Rev. 19:7-9; 21:2.

In the Gospel of John, Christ is revealed both as the Lamb who came to take

away sin and as the Bridegroom who came that He might have the bride—3:29.

Christ’s goal is not to remove sin; it is to have the bride:
In the book of Revelation, we see that Christ is the Lamb and the coming

Bridegroom; therefore, as the Bridegroom, He must have a wedding—19:7-9.

The wedding of the Lamb will be a universal wedding; it will be the marriage of the Redeemer and the redeemed.
Christ is coming as the Bridegroom, and we are going as the bride.

A very crucial matter is the readiness of the bride—v. 7:

According to Revelation 19:8 and 9, the wife, the bride of Christ, here consists only of the overcoming believers during the millennium.

The readiness of the bride depends on the maturity in life of the overcomers, who are not separate individuals but the corporate bride.

In Revelation 19:6 the voice of the great multitude proclaims, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns”:

The reign of God, the kingdom, is related to the marriage of the Lamb.

The wedding will bring in the reign of the Lord, the kingdom, because all the guests called to the wedding will be both the corporate bride and the

co-kings of the Bridegroom; all His co-kings will be His corporate bride.

To the overcomers, the thousand years of the millennial kingdom will be a wedding feast.
Everyone invited to the wedding feast will also participate in the thousand-year reign as kings.
For the overcomers, reigning with Christ in the kingdom will be the wedding feast—v. 9.

KRISTALLISATIE-STUDIE VAN 1 & 2 KRONIEKEN,

EZRA, NEHEMIA EN ESTER Week 11:

(CWWL, 1984, deel 3, “God’s New Testament Economy,” blz. 441)

twaalfduizend stadiën lang is.
Onze grote muur is
doorzichtig.
We waren allemaal natuurlijke
We zullen allemaal volledig
(CWWL, 1984, deel 3, “God’s New Testament Economy,” blz. 441-443)

CRYSTALLIZATION STUDY OF 1 & 2 CHRONICLES,

EZRA, NEHEMIAH, AND ESTER Week 11:

The inner meaning of Ezra's ministry and Nehemiah's leadership –
building up the church as the house of God and the kingdom of God through the New Jerusalem

express and develop

WEEK 11 – DAY 1

Morning Revival

Revelation 21:11-12 (…) Its brightness was like a very precious stone, like a crystal clear

jasper stone. She had a great and high wall (...).

Revelation 21:18 And the material of its wall was jasper; and the city was pure gold, in clear glass

Revelation 4:3 And he that sat thereon looked like unto a jasper and sardius stone ( . . .)

God on His throne looks like jasper, and the whole wall of New Jerusalem is built with jasper. The first foundation of the wall is also made of jasper. According to Revelation 21:11, jasper is a "very precious stone ( . . .) crystal clear." The color should be dark green, which indicates the richness of life.
God's appearance as jasper means that His appearance is life in all its richness. Jasper is the apparition of God, and shall also be the appearing of the holy city, New Jerusalem (v. 11). The entire city
looks the same as God in her appearance.

The center of the city is God enthroned with one
appearance like jasper, and the circumference of the city is its wall, which is built with jasper. This means that the
whole city from its center to its periphery is an expression of the God of life in His riches. (CWWL, 1984, vol. 3, "God's New Testament Economy," p. 441)

Todays reading

Revelation 21:12 tells us that the wall was great and high for separation from God and from the protection of God's interest. The height of the wall is one hundred and forty-four cubits. A cubit is about eighteen inches, so based on that, the wall is two hundred and sixteen feet high. Revelation also tells us that the wall
twelve thousand furlongs long. Since a stadium is about six hundred feet, the wall is likely one thousand three hundred and sixty-four miles long. This is approximately the distance between Los Angeles and Dallas. The wall of the New Jerusalem is at least seven times higher than the Great Wall of China. Our great wall, which we in it
book of Revelation is built with jasper, and this jasper is clear as crystal (v. 11). Our great wall istransparent. No wall on earth can compare to the wall of the New Jerusalem. The wall of the New Jerusalem includes seven aspects. The wall closes transformation, construction, it image of God, the expression of God, the testimony of Jesus, seclusion and protection. A wall always separates a certain space from another space. A wall also protects what's inside from all
kinds of negative and bad things. The foundations of the wall bear the names of the twelve apostles. Each apostle is by one gemstone pictured. The name Peter means 'a stone'. A stone is something created by God, buthas not been transformed. All gems have been transformed. Peter was a stone at first, but he became
finally jasper, the first foundation of the New Jerusalem. The wall itself is jasper and the first
foundation of the wall is also jasper. Peter was a stone at first, but in the New Jerusalem he is one
jasper stone, the first layer of the foundation of the wall. This indicates transformation.
The wall is not just built with natural materials created by God, but
the wall is built with transformed components. We are all God's ancient creation, but God
has placed us in Christ to make us His new creation. We were all natural
creatures, but we have been transformed from the old creation to the new creation in Christ (2 Cor.
5:17). In the New Jerusalem there will be no Chinese, Americans, Spaniards, Mexicans, Japanese,
Koreans, French, Germans or whatever culture or race you are. We will all completely
have been transformed. I believe even our color will be transformed. We'll all be 'green' then
are. We will all be jasper! We will be one people with one color: 'green'! All different colors
and all different cultures will be devoured by the rich divine life of the Triune God.
This is transformation. (CWWL, 1984, vol. 3, "God's New Testament Economy," pp. 441-443)

It is visible that a lot of abuse has been made in the image of people, by people. This has been revealed, among others, by the former mayor of The Hague, named Wim Deetman. You can read here via Wikipedia: Willem Joost Deetman is a Dutch former politician and director. He has been Minister and State Secretary of Education and Chairman of the House of Representatives, among other things. From 1996 to 2008 he was mayor of The Hague

Wim Deetman over misbruik kerk:

'U kunt me wat!'

Wim Deetman about church abuse:

'They have lost their way there!'

THE HAGUE - Former politician, former minister and former mayor of The Hague Wim Deetman is clear: the culture of silence and covering up about sexual abuse in the Catholic Church must be broken. 'There was an attitude of covering up in the church council, you don't hang your dirty laundry out'. 'People should stop being silent'. "When everything is open you can look the other person in the eye."

He says that in the October issue of the monthly magazine Kerk in The Hague.

Deetman, still active in the Kloosterkerk in The Hague, conducted research in 2010 and 2011 into the sexual abuse of minors in the Roman Catholic Church in the Netherlands.

One of the criticisms of his committee was that the church knew about the abuse and did far too little for victims. Deetman believes that the Catholic Church worldwide should follow the Dutch example in order to keep some of its own message alive.

The pope calls for the abuse to be reported and at the same time it is stated in Australia that the secrecy of confession is maintained for servants of the church. So that's a license. They've lost their way there!'

"You can tell me much more, but I don't believe it!"

Deetman no longer gives interviews about abuse in the Dutch church province, 'Everything has pretty much been said.' But he makes an exception for the Hague ecclesiastical monthly magazine. Because of The Hague where he was mayor and where he is still involved in the church. And also because of the current situation. The constant stream of bad news from, for example, the US, Australia and Germany.

Many victims have suffered irreparable damage. "There are those whose lives have been destroyed, we must realize that." 'Then you are not there with apologies, forgiveness and prayer'. If that is the only answer, then as a church you are not increasing your credibility. The victims then say: "You can tell me much more, but I don't believe it!'

God is not a man, and if we want to lead, we should conduct ourselves as slaves in the complete humility that was given to us as an example. Overwhelming church towers with loud organs or highly amplified music are not described anywhere in the Bible.

A lot can be used and even abused to a form of vanity that will certainly not be in the Lord, even if you write BLOOD OF JESUS on your forehead in huge letters, it can all be pure vanity.

EINDTIJD

VIA WIKIPEDIA

END TIME

The end time is explained in different ways. It is also indicated via wikipedia as an important role that something must have in a story. People are even talking about the final movement here, where "the movement" is of very great importance.

In my personal opinion, the movement of the story is indeed very important as well.

After all, the movement leads man to the goal.

And of course that real goal for me personally will always be REAL LOVE.

In short, the story game "Narrathon" by my acquaintance Ewald Theunisse also points very clearly to the importance of the final card.

The final card that will therefore also be able to carry an important degree of satisfaction as a closing sentence and with which one can really get into balance.

VIA WIKIPEDIA

The end time, the end of times,

the last days of eschaton

is a representation of the last time period (the end) of all human history.

The doctrine of the end times is called eschatology.

Movements in which the end times play an important role in their theology are called end times movement.

The Abrahamic religions have a linear cosmology in which end-time scenarios consist of themes surrounding great upheavals and redemption.

In Judaism, the end times often refer to the final stretch of world history, in which the Jewish diaspora is gathered, the Messiah appears, the "world to come" comes, and the dead rise.

In Christianity, the end times often refer to the Great Tribulation, which precedes the Second Coming of Jesus.

In Islam, Judgment Day is preceded by the appearance of al-Mahdi.

With the help of Isa (Jesus), he will then conquer Dajjal.

Eschatology (from Greek τὰ ἔσχατα, ta és-chata, "the last things", and λόγος, lógos, "word" and in a broader sense "doctrine") is a theological concept meaning the "doctrine of the last things". In Christian, Jewish and Islamic religions, the term refers to the end of the world, the end times or the “Four Last Things” (Latin “Quatuor Novissima”): Death, Last Judgment, Heaven and Hell. The faith communities in which, in terms of eschatology and general religious experience, the belief that human history is in the end times is central, are called end times movement .

Christianity

The word eschatos is used in the New Testament to indicate the end that will begin with the second coming of Jesus. Jesus promises his followers at his ascension that he will return, and then all suffering will be over. He will come to judge the living and the dead, say Christians in their creed. This refers to the words of Jesus when he speaks about the Day of Judgment.

The Bible book of Revelation describes a prophecy of John, which is interpreted by most churches as a prophecy of the end times.

Islam

Islam also has a strong belief in the end times.

Muslims believe that the Prophet Isa (Jesus) and/or the Mahdi, followers of the Prophet Muhammad, will return to earth at a time chosen by Allah. The Mahdi will stop all wars and an era of peace will begin.

In particular, the Shia Muslims strongly believe in the coming of the Mahdi, who will judge all persons on earth. They believe that only right-minded Muslims have a place in heaven. Sunnis, on the other hand, believe that only Allah can judge

Mayans

See 2012 phenomenon for the main article on this topic.
The last day of the 13th baktun of the Mayan calendar (13.0.0.0.0 4 Ahau 3 Kankin) is equated by a number of scholars with the Gregorian date December 21 or 23, 2012. Some assumed that an apocalyptic end would come on one of those days. would come to the world. The internet was teeming with websites with ominous texts on this subject.

According to earth scientist Andreas Fuls, the 2012 phenomenon rests on a miscalculation and the 13 baktun would not stop until December 21, 22 or 23, 2220.

Judaism

Jewish eschatology pertains to events that will take place in the End of Days, according to the Torah and Jewish thought. This includes the return of the exiled diaspora, the coming of a Jewish Messiah, an afterlife, and the revival of the dead (tsadikim).

In Judaism, the end times are usually referred to as the "end of days" (aḥarit ha-yamim, אחרית הימים), a phrase that appears several times in the Torah. The idea of a messianic age has a prominent place in Jewish thought and is seen as part of the end of days.

In Judaism, the primary textual source for belief in the End of Days and associated events is the Hebrew Bible.

Deuteronomy 28-31 states that the Jews will not be able to keep the laws of Moses in the Land of Israel and will therefore be exiled, but eventually redeemed. The books of the Hebrew prophets deal with the end of days.

In rabbinic literature, the rabbis elaborate these stories and explain the prophecies of the Hebrew Bible, together with the oral law and the (meaning of the) rabbinic traditions.

EINDTIJD

END TIME

Of course we also have to deal with the end times through the Bible, and yet I don't really like to deal with it too much and really too deeply.

Sometimes there is a lot of talk about the end times.

I don't like to really lose myself in a time that is yet to come.

That image may still be a little open from me.

Yet I have come across several people who really assume that everything will already be in full swing and everything will actually be completely known,

So it is the message that most people on earth will slowly but surely be completely brainwashed and even be injected with electronic chips. This would already be possible thanks to advanced technology,

Even the Dutch Queen Maxima is said to be working on this at the moment.

Furthermore, people sometimes see all kinds of railway lines that are supposed to be under construction and that should ensure that (just as happened with the Jews, gays and gypsies in the Second World War) many more people will soon be deported to concentration camps.

It sometimes seems as if the war has already started and some groups report that.

And yes, it scares me sometimes too. Recently I literally read: THERE IS WAR - FOR THE PEOPLE WHO DID NOT KNOW IT YET

And because I really had something to do with them and I couldn't reach my wife in the Philippines, I immediately thought: Oh dear, it can't be true that the third world war has really started already?

A great sense of anxiety came over me then.
Fortunately, it turned out not to be true at all.

DE HEILIGE GEEST

THE HOLY SPIRIT

Johannes 21: 15-19

The Holy Spirit stands before me like a rock in the surf. The stone as the meaning of disciple Peter who wants to go through the fire as his close follower. And who was allowed to carry with him the key of the Holy gate.

Rock in the surf. Jesus had a disciple named Simon. He gave this one a new name: Peter (from the Greek πέτρα, petra, rock).

Handoplegging.

Laying on of hands.

Laying our hands on Christ as "the burnt offering" is not just a matter of identification, it is a matter of atonement.

Psalm 73 touches all who will follow the Holy Spirit and suffer for it. Jet verte;d about bad people who seem so happy and whom you can become jealous of as a human being, But you also read how they can deceive your appearance, they deceive you with violence and will really hurt you with their words and like to do this in want to do the secret all.

And it often seems that those people just keep getting richer and will never have no worries. It is of course much better to start living according to the real love of God, Jesus Christ or the Holy Spirit and to accept Him as your greatest wealth.

Ik zal Mijn Geest ulieden overvloediglijk uitstorten;

zoals artistieke handvaardigheid.

I read in the table of contents of my very beloved and very special "children's bible" the reference to Legion.

The Holy Spirit carries out God's main purpose of building a relationship of peace between people and God and between people. The Holy Spirit is regarded in Christianity as the Spirit of God. Together with God the Father and the Son of God, the Holy Spirit forms the Holy Trinity. When it comes to the Holy Spirit in the Bible, other names are sometimes used for it, such as the Spirit of the Lord/of the Lord or simply the Spirit.

Although the Holy Spirit is mainly associated with the New Testament among Christians, the Spirit of God is also mentioned in several places in the Old Testament. In that part of the Bible, the Spirit is invariably associated with prominent people from the people of Israel, such as prophets and judges. Some Bible passages where this Spirit appears in the Old Testament are:

Genesis 1:2 - The earth was still formless and empty, and darkness was over the deep,
but God's spirit hovered over the water.

(This can be interpreted as "the Holy Spirit was there before the creation of the world").

Judges 13:25 - Between Sorah and Estaol, where the Danites pitched their tents,
he (i.e. Samson) was first moved to action by the spirit of the Lord.
(The Holy Ghost apparently urged Samson to do the things he was called to do.)

Proverbs 1:23 - 'Turn to My rebuke; sees,
I will pour out My Spirit upon you abundantly;
I will make My words known to you.'

In the New Testament, the help of the Holy Spirit is no longer reserved for Jewish eminents.

Jesus predicted in the Gospel of John (16:7-15) that the Holy Spirit would come upon His followers after He Himself had departed.

Then I will ask the Father to give you another advocate who will always be with you: the Spirit of truth.

The world cannot receive him, for it neither sees nor knows him.
You know him well, for he lives in you and will remain in you.

(John 14:16-17).

Jesus explains that His Spirit will convince the world of sin, righteousness and judgment.

There is a lack of clarity about this, because the word 'world' is often overlooked.

According to the Christian interpretation, once the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus is accepted by God, sins are taken away.

Then his Spirit convinces, among other things, of that righteousness received (see Romans 8 about this) and of sonship (belonging to God, Galatians 4:6).
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the believer is also a pledge,
namely,

that the believer will one day receive eternal life

(2 Corinthians 5:4-5).

This "helper" would inform Jesus' followers of everything Jesus had told them during his life on earth, and would also teach them the necessary things.
According to Acts 2 (ten days after the Ascension of Jesus), the Holy Spirit is poured out on all believers during the Jewish Feast of Weeks. Christians celebrate the same thing at Pentecost: it is celebrated that the Holy Spirit distributed itself in the form of fiery tongues over the heads of those present and that they then spoke in tongues. Various functions are attributed to the Holy Spirit in the Bible, the life of Christians and/or the church.

These are:
The conviction of sin.
The Holy Spirit convicts persons of the sinfulness of their actions,
but also of their position of sinners in relation to God.

Repentance
The Holy Spirit plays an essential role in the conversion of individuals to the Christian faith.
The new believer is born again by the Spirit.
The Holy Spirit qualifies.
The Holy Spirit equips individual believers to live a righteous and faithful life.
If the comforter, or Paraclete, who intercedes, supports,
and pleads for the individual believer before God, especially in times of persecution or trial.
Inspiration and interpreter of the Bible.
The Holy Spirit inspired the Bible writers
and assists individual believers and the Church in the interpretation of the text.

The Holy Spirit as a creative force.
The Spirit was involved in creation and gives man life. Equip people for specific tasks.

Several times in the Bible, individuals receive specific abilities,
such as artistic handicraft.

Delilah bind Samson Simson vast

Delila bindt Simson weer vast.

Delila zei tegen Simson: "Je bent een bedrieger Je hebt tegen me gelogen!

Laat me tegen die zuilen leunen."

But in the Bible you read:

The biblical story of Samson tells of a warrior with supernatural strength. Samson discovered this power when he encountered a lion and killed it with his bare fists. Later he single-handedly killed a thousand Philistines, after which he was seduced by the Philistine woman Delilah. So this story is about a woman named Delilah who tries to take a special great power from the man Samson. She trapped him and cut off his hair in the night, causing Samson to lose his strength. Samson was then captured by the Philistines, his eyes were gouged out, and he was put to work in Gaza turning a mill.

Some time later, he was taken to Dagan's temple to entertain the masses. He leaned against a pillar and asked God to restore his strength one last time. He got it, after which Samson collapsed the temple and died along with thousands of Philistines.

But this story is literally told in the Bible: It starts with the birth of Samson and you will find that in the book of

Judges 13

But the story with Delilah is described in Judges 16:4-22

I read out:

Samson and Delilah

The Philistines want to seize Samson.

A short time later, Samson fell in love with a woman who lived in the Sorek Valley. Her name was Delilah.

The rulers of the Philistine cities went to Delilah. They said to her, "Try to find out from Samson why he is so strong. And also how we can tie him up so that he cannot come loose. Then each of us will give you €1,100 silver pieces."

Delilah tie up Samson

Then Delilah said to Samson, "Tell me how it is that you are so strong. How can you be so bound that you cannot get loose?"

Samson replied, "If I am bound with seven strong cords, then I am as weak as any other man."

The Philistine rulers gave Delilah 7 strong cords. When Samson slept she bound him with it.

Meanwhile, some Philistines hid in one of the rooms of Delilah's house.

Then Delilah cried, "Samson, here come the Philistines!" But Samson tore the cordon as if they were thin strings. So the Felistines did not yet know what made Samson so strong.

Delilah ties Samson up again.

Delilah said to Samson, "You are an impostor. You have lied to me! Tell me what you must be tied up with."

Samson said, "If I am bound tightly with new ropes that have never been used, then I am as weak as any other man."

Delilah took new ropes and bound Samson's arms. Meanwhile, some Philistines had been hiding in one of the rooms of the house for ages. Then Delilah cried, "Samson, here come the Philistines!" But Samson broke the ropes as if they were threads.

Delilah fastens Samson one more time

Delilah said to Samson, "You are a deceiver! You lie to me all the time! Tell me what you must be tied up with."

Samson said, "You must weave my long hair into the cloth you are weaving."

When Samson fell asleep, Delilah did so. Samson's hair was completely stuck.

Then she cried, "Samson, here come the Philistines!" Samson woke up and tore himself free at once.

Samson tells his secret to Delilah

Then Delilah said, "How can you say that you love me? You are not honest with me. You have already cheated on me three times. Because you don't tell me why you are so strong."

Every day she said such things to Samson. Thus Delilah wanted to force Samson to tell her his secret. At last Samson could take it no more. He said, "I must never have my hair cut because I am a Nazirite. I have served God in a special way since I was born. If I cut my hair, my strength will disappear. Then I will be as weak as anyone else. other human.

Delilah cuts Samson's hair.

Delilah understood that this time Samson had really told his secret. She sent to the Philistine rulers with the following message: "Now you must come yourselves. For Samson has told his secret." The rulers immediately went to Delilah, carrying the silver pieces for her. Then Delilah let Samson fall asleep on her knees. Then she called one of the drivers and cut off Samson's long hair. That is how she got Samson under her power. And he lost all his strength. Delilah cried, "Samson, here come the Philistines!" Samson woke up. He wanted to jump up and break free again just like the last time. But he did not know that the lord had abandoned him.

Samson goes to prison.

The Philistines seized Samson and gouged out his eyes. They took him to the city of Gaza. There they bound him with two bronze chains. In prison he had to grind the grain. But from the moment that Samson's hair was cut off, it also started to grow again.

The Philistines celebrate.

The Philistine rulers gathered for a great feast of sacrifice. They offered sacrifices to their god Dagon. They said, "Dagon has delivered Samson our enemy into our hand." The people saw Samson and shouted for their god. They said, "Samson has destroyed our land and killed many of our people. But our god has given him into our power.

Samson is taken to the temple

When everyone was in a merry mood, they said, "Let's get Samson here, and we can laugh." They took Samson out of prison and they laughed at him. They put him between the pillars of the temple.

Samson said to the boy guarding him:

"Let go of me. I want to feel the pillars that support the roof of the temple. Let me lean against those pillars."

The Temple was full of men and women. There were also the rulers of the Philistine cities. And on the roof were also about 3000 men and women. They all looked at Samson and laughed at him.

Samson and the Philistines die

Then Samson prayed to the Lord. He said, "Lord my God, remember me. Make me strong once more, so that I can punish the Philistines for putting out my eyes."

Samson took the two middle pillars that supported the roof of the Temple. He stretched out with his right hand against one pillar and with his left hand against the other pillar. Samson cried, "Let me die with the Philistines!" Then he pushed as hard as he could, and the temple collapsed. The Philistine administrators and all the other people who were there fell under the rubble.

Thus Samson killed more people at his death than during his lifetime.

Samson's burial

Samson's brothers came to Gaza with their entire family to collect Samson's body. They buried him between Sorah and Estaol, in the place where his father Manoah was buried. Samson had been leader of the Israelites for 20 years.

Symbols and metaphors
Various metaphors and symbols are used in the Bible to describe the Holy Spirit:

Water.

All believers are baptized in one Spirit and permeated by him.

The Spirit is also referred to as the living water.
The anointing.

The anointing with oil was seen as a symbol of receiving the Holy Spirit. In the Old Testament, kings were anointed with oil. This symbolized receiving the Spirit.
Firework.

John the Baptist tells his listeners that they will be baptized with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

On the day of Pentecost, the disciples have tongues of fire on their heads, which is seen as receiving the Holy Spirit.
A pigeon.

When Christ received the Holy Ghost, a dove descended upon him.
The wind. Several times in the Bible, an action and/or the coming of the Holy Spirit is accompanied by the raising of a wind.

Jesus himself also makes a comparison between the Holy Spirit and the wind.

The Holy Spirit in relation to Jesus
The Holy Spirit is also believed to have worked in the life of Jesus Christ to assist him in his work on earth. The Holy Ghost played a role in:

The birth of Jesus. According to the Gospels, Jesus was not conceived naturally, but by the Holy Spirit. He was born of the virgin Mary. The Apostles' Creed says that Jesus was "conceived" of the Holy Spirit.

Receiving his calling at his baptism.
equip him in his work. Jesus' work began after he was baptized.

In the Gospels it is described that a dove descended on Jesus, enabling him to do his work.
Pentecost.

Pentecost commemorates the Holy Spirit,

the third Person of the Most Holy Trinity, descended from heaven upon the apostles and other believers present.
The Holy Spirit and Its Role in Christianity
Repentance
Within Christianity, it is believed that the Holy Spirit plays an important role in the process leading up to the moment one comes to adhere to the Christian faith.

Although people can be convinced by arguments and/or decide to become a Christian on the basis of feeling,

but in the end it is the Holy Spirit who moves them to do so.

In the Christian tradition it is believed that when someone comes to faith, he/she also receives the Holy Spirit who helps him/her to live a Christian life.

Gifts of the Spirit
See Gifts of the Spirit for the main article on this topic.

Christians believe in Gifts of the Spirit. These are skills to function effectively as individual believers and as a community of believers. These gifts are mentioned in the letters of the apostle Paul. The most famous list appears in 1 Corinthians 12 and 14, but Paul also speaks of the gifts in Romans 16:6-8 and Ephesians 4:11.

Within the Christian tradition, these gifts have come back to prominence, particularly in the last century, especially through the Pentecostal and Charismatic Movements. Within theology there are various topics of discussion surrounding the gifts of the Spirit. A first question that is asked what exactly Paul meant when he talked about it.

Another point of discussion is whether the gifts of the spirit were intended only for the early church, or also for believers who lived later.

Furthermore, there have been several theologians who have tried to classify the various gifts into different categories, while others are fiercely opposed to this.

Fruit of the Spirit

See Fruit of the Spirit for the main article on this topic.

Christians believe that they receive the Fruit of the Spirit through him.

This fruit is mentioned in Galatians 5:22-23.

These are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness and self-control (or: temperance). The Roman Catholic Church has expanded this list to include generosity, modesty, and chastity.

Baptism with the Holy Spirit
See Baptism with the Holy Spirit for the main article on this topic.
Sin against the Holy Spirit
In three Gospels, Jesus states that whoever sins or blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never be forgiven, either during life or after death.

This in response to the accusation of the Pharisees and scribes that Jesus cast out demons through Beelzebub, that is, through the devil himself.

In the Letter to the Hebrews it is stated that one who has become a Christian, has been filled with the Holy Spirit and has 'taste' of heaven and then has fallen away from the faith, cannot be brought back to faith, which is similar to the sin against the Holy Ghost.

Renewed interest
Although the Holy Spirit has never completely disappeared from Christianity, there has been a renewed interest since the late 19th century, particularly in England and Britain and Beieren (Germany).

At the beginning of the 20th century on the west coast of the United States, people started to see again a complete infilling with the Holy Spirit, also called the baptism in the Holy Spirit. At first this was mainly the exclusive domain of the new denomination of the Pentecostal churches, but it gradually expanded via the so-called charismatic movement to the longer existing churches such as all kinds of other Protestant denominations and the Roman Catholic Church.

A specific current with an interest in the Holy Spirit are the apostolic congregations.

These congregations sprang up in England following prayer services of worshipers in the Presbyterian Church

and the Church of England, who implored a renewed outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

Over time, these prayer services manifested the gift of prophecy. Ultimately, the Catholic Apostolic Church emerged from these groups of believers.

This church actually only exists in name, but both the Restored Apostolic Mission Church and the Restored Apostolic Mission Church are direct daughter churches that are convinced that they still have the gifts of the Holy Spirit as described in the Bible.

In Judaism, Islam and Manichaeism
In Judaism

Ruach Hakodesh in Judaism is a figurative way of speaking about God or Divine inspiration that people enjoyed or enjoy (when Ruach Hakodesh rests on someone).

The Christian tripartite division of God is seen as polytheism, because according to Judaism,

God is one and has no separate spirit or children.

In Islam
Also within Islam there is a holy spirit, the Roeh Al-Qudoes This refers to the strengthening of various prophets, such as Isa (Jesus), by God with the holy spirit.

In Sura The Prophets 91, there is mention of the breath of the spirit in Maryam (Mary). In Islamic tradition, the holy spirit is used for the angel Jibrail (Gabriel).

In Manichaeism
Mani, the founder of Manichaeism, considered himself the Holy Spirit who brings comfort and whose coming was foretold by Jesus. He took the following passage from John 16:12-15 in which Jesus speaks of the Holy Spirit as applying to himself:

"I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them yet.

But when He comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you into all truth, for he will not speak of himself,

but what he hears will he speak, and will declare to you things to come.

He will reveal to me, for out of my being He will take that which He will declare to you. Everything that the Father has in him lives in me.

Therefore I said to you, Out of my being the Spirit receives that which He shall declare to you." Manichaeism was later condemned as a heretical doctrine.
